How we compare personal loans
Our transparent methodology for ranking Australian lenders
Our approach
Credizen uses a data-driven methodology to compare and rank personal loan lenders in Australia. Our goal is to present accurate, up-to-date information so you can make informed borrowing decisions.
Step 1: Data collection
We collect product data directly from lender websites and official Product Disclosure Statements (PDS). This includes advertised rates, comparison rates, establishment fees, ongoing fees, loan amount ranges, term options, and eligibility criteria.
Step 2: Rate verification
All comparison rates and fee structures are verified quarterly. We cross-reference lender disclosures with ASIC requirements to ensure accuracy. Comparison rates are calculated on the standard basis of a A$30,000 unsecured loan over 5 years, as required by Australian regulations.
Step 3: Scoring algorithm
Each lender is scored across multiple criteria:
- Comparison rate competitiveness — Lower comparison rates score higher
- Fee transparency — Clear, low-fee structures score higher
- Approval speed — Faster approval and disbursement times score higher
- Loan flexibility — Wider amount ranges and term options score higher
- Accessibility — Lenders accepting diverse income types and credit histories score higher
- Customer feedback — Verified review scores from independent platforms
Step 4: Personalised matching
When you use our comparison tool, our algorithm considers your loan amount, purpose, income, employment status, and credit history to match you with lenders most likely to approve your application at competitive rates.
Step 5: Transparency review
Rankings are reviewed to ensure fairness. No lender receives preferential placement based on the commission they pay Credizen. Our revenue model is disclosed on every page — lenders pay us when you successfully apply through our service.
Step 6: Regular updates
Product data is refreshed regularly and after significant market events, such as RBA cash rate decisions or changes to ASIC fee cap regulations. Each lender page displays a "Last updated" date.
